Dr. Alessandro Giannatasio – after graduating in Medicine and Surgery – Specialized in Paediatrics, at Genoa University. From 2001 to 2002 he took part in a Ministerial Research Project for prevention of Type 1 Diabetes named “Identification of subjects at risk of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus to be started with primary or secondary prevention”, funded by the Department of Paediatrics of the Istituto G Gaslini (Genoa). From 2002 to 2003 he carried out an internship in the research laboratory coordinated by Prof. M. Knip at the Hospital for Children and Adolescents, University of Helsinki (Finland).
